Meet Your Conference Chairs...continued
Kathy Hummel teaches children ages 2-14 at Brickton Montessori School in Chicago, and has been teaching in Montessori schools for 23 years. She completed her Orff Certification Levels at DePaul University. She is currently the Newsletter Editor of the Greater Chicago AOSA chapter and have held the positions of Past President, President, Vice President, Program Chair, and Member-at-large.
Manju Durairaj was born and raised in India. She studied Music in London, England, and was involved in graduate research projects on comparative pedagogical practices of Indian (Carnatic) and Western Music. She graduated with her second Masters Degree at VanderCook College of Music, Chicago. Manju currently teaches General Music at the Latin School of Chicago.
Kathy Smith, a music specialist for West Allis Public Schools, retired after 30 years of service. She is currently teaching part-time for an area Montessorri School. She is a levels certified Orff teacher and has cotaught Level I at Mt. Mary College in Milwaukee.
Jennie has been a general music teacher with the Port Washington- Saukville School District for the past five years. She will be completing her level three training at Anderson University (Indianapolis) this summer and is nationally board certified in early and middle childhood music.
Sherry Johnson works as an elementary general music teacher for the Hartford Joint #1 school district. Before becoming a music teacher She worked as a music therapist. Sherry keeps her Board Certification in Music Therapy active. Sherry has her master of music from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She sang with the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus from 1984 -2008 and is currently procuring Equipment for the upcoming 2009 AOSA Professional Development Conference in Milwaukee. >> Copyright © 2009 by American Orff-Schulwerk Association.
