This workshop provides ways to better know your students to impact their learning. Leave with strategies and techniques to improve differentiated instruction.


Learn various strategies for assessing musical behaviors beyond paper and pencil.

WolfDebbie Lynn Wolf, Ph.D., teaches at Philadelphia Biblical University and Temple University, and serves as chief reader for PRAXIS Music Tests at Educational Testing Services (ETS). Recent workshop and research presentations include the 2008 ISME World Conference and Research Seminar, 2007 SIMCAM Conference, Brazil, and 2007 Early Childhood Conference, Lithuania.


Wood, Marilyn (# 174, 274)

Develop children’s ears for part singing using Orff activities. Process the teaching of singing in three parts with Orff accompaniment for fourth through sixth grade children.

photoMarilyn Wood, associate professor at Middle Tennessee State University, teaches three years old to adult using the Orff-Schulwerk approach. She teaches Orff courses and has conducted children’s choir festivals. Her degrees are from Oklahoma Baptist University, the University of North Texas and a master class in Orff.

Explore directions for research in the Orff Schulwerk approach.

photoSheila Woodward is Chair of Music Education at the University of Southern California. Her research focus is music and wellbeing. She explores this from before birth to adulthood, with studies on the fetus and neonate, the young child, at risk youth, the juvenile offender and the adult musician.

Give your input to the committee responsible for revising the Teacher Education Guidelines. For apprentices and levels course teachers.

Jo Ella HugJo Ella Hug teaches Middle School students as well as adult OS learners in the summer. She has presented at numerous AOSA Conferences, Carl Orff Canada and MENC National in 2008. She has a video presentation available in the AOSA library, and completed her term as AOSA President on June 30.

 

Judith Thompson-BarthwellJudith Thompson-Barthwell teaches at Emerson School in Ann Arbor and has taught music and dance K-12. After completing levels training, she attended the year-long course at the Orff Institute in Salzburg, Austria. Judy has taught Orff courses internationally and was a Contributing Author for the 2005 Silver Burdett Making Music.

 

photoExperienced in Orff, Kodály, and Music for People, Martha Crowell teaches music at Springside School in Philadelphia. Martha also teaches in AOSA levels courses, AOSA conferences, and teacher workshops. A PAOSA past president and former chair of the AOSA/ARS committee, Martha is currently serving on the Guidelines Revision Committee.

President Julie Scott
Representatives from AOSA, Organization of American Kodály Educators, Dalcroze Society of America and Gordon Institute for Music Learning will be the panelists. Come and enjoy the discussion.

Julie ScottJulie Scott serves as President of AOSA. She is Lecturer in Music Education at Southern Methodist University and is pursuing a Ph.D. at Eastman School of Music. Prior to teaching at the university level, Julie taught elementary music in Texas for 17 years.
