Crisp, Brian/ Sarah Richardson (# 283)
Examining the Roots, Exploring the Shoots
Examine historical connections with the gamelan. Explore the contextual material of bamboo while addressing Orff Schulwerk, the MENC standards, and Social Constructivist Theory.
Brian D. Crisp was the Executive Director of Preschool of the Arts, a Reggio-Inspired school in Madison, WI. He has studied The Reggio approach in the municipal schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy. He is an Orff-Schulwerk teacher trainer and frequent presenter.
Sarah Richardson teaches music and drama at Lake Country Montessori School in Minneapolis. She graduated from St. Olaf College and has Orff levels training. Sarah has worked as a professional actor, is Montessori trained and teaches movement and theatre in Orff courses around the country.

In the Spirit of the Atelier: Orff-Schulwerk and the Reggio Approach
Examine the Fundamentals of the Reggio Approach, and experience a broader context for the Schulwerk that enables children to make authentic and meaningful connections. *Register for both sessions.

Julie Mazer teaches at the Preschool of the Arts in Madison, WI, where she creates music experiences with children ages 18 months to five years. She earned her bachelor’s in Music Therapy at UW Oshkosh and has completed her levels training. Julie teaches piano lessons and conducts a choir for adults with developmental disabilities.
Erica Neis teaches at the Preschool of the Arts in Madison, WI, where she creates music experiences with children ages 18 months to five years. She earned her bachelor’s in Music Therapy at UW Oshkosh and has worked as a music therapist and in-home therapist for children with Autism.

Snowflakes to Great Lakes: Exploring the Water Cycle
Using snowflakes as a point of departure, explore the unique six-sided nature of snow crystals through improvisation.
Deborah Cunningham is a vocal/general music educator at Jamesville-DeWitt Middle School in NY. She completed three levels of Orff Schulwerk Teacher Training and a Master Class. Deborah is Past President of the Greater Rochester Chapter.

Compelling Connections: Reading and Music
Using intentional connections between music and reading instruction can be powerful tools to engage the whole child. Orff Schulwerk pedagogy is infused with reading skills in this session.

Esther D’Agrosa teaches teacher education courses and has recently retired as Associate Professor / Coordinator of Music Education at Morningside College, Sioux City, IA. She served on the NBT of AOSA, as the Elementary Music Chair of Iowa MEA, and as President of the Iowa Alliance for Arts Education.

Ms. DePasquale, who teaches music in the Middletown City School District in New York, is a National Board Certified Teacher. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy and a Master's degree in Music Education. She has been named a SMART Exemplary Educator by SMART Technologies.

National Board Certified Teacher David DeStefano teaches at Phillips Charter School in Napa, CA. He has presented workshops in California, Florida and at the 2007 AOSA Conference in San Jose, CA. He has completed three Levels of Orff and has written for The Orff Echo.
