Han, Kuo-Huang (# 244, 327)

Angklung is a popular bamboo instrument widely used in music education in Southeast Asia. Play traditional and modern angklung music from Indonesia and the West.

Kuo-Huang HanKuo-Huang Han is Distinguished Teaching Professor Emeritus, Northern Illinois University and was visiting professor at the University of Kentucky. He has taught ethnomusicology, world music, and Chinese and Southeast Asian music performance. He has written articles for the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, Garland Encyclopedia of World Music and several textbooks.




Howard, Karen (# 224, 245)

Learn traditional Tahitian rhythms on the toere (slit drum) and fa'atete (drum). Dances and songs are appropriate for school ensembles.

Karen HowardKaren Howard teaches vocal music in Connecticut and has directed the Connecticut Children's Chorus. Her training includes studies in Cuba, Tahiti, Ghana, Turkey, Macedonia, Thailand, Morocco and India. She presents workshops at the national and international level and was recognized as CMEA’s Elementary Music Educator of the Year for 2003.






Huenemann, Lynn (# 225)

Explore all voices of recorders in settings appropriate for beginning recorder players, using the MIE consort series. Create accompaniments, add improvisation and use simple recorder ensembles in the classroom.

Lynn HuenemannLynn Huenemann teaches grades K-4 at Seneca East Schools in Northwest Ohio. She has taught recorder at Orff Teacher Training at Cleveland State University. Lynn has presented at AOSA National conference, and presents workshops on teaching music using recorder and Orff process across the country.

 




Huffman, Carol (# 146)

This demonstration session features sixth-grade students working with speech, body instruments, non-pitched percussion and improvisation.

HuffmanCarol Huffman is a Past-President of AOSA. She has presented throughout the United States, Canada and China and served as a consultant for The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Carol was a contributing writer for Macmillan/McGraw Hill and is the Executive Director for the Bloomington Early Music Festival in Indiana.




Hug, Jo Ella (# 147)

This demonstration session features sixth-grade students working with recorder as an integrated member of the Orff Schulwerk media. Process teaching lays the foundation for success.

HugJo Ella Hug just completed her term as AOSA President. She teaches Middle School students full time, as well as adult OS learners in the summer. She has presented at numerous AOSA Conferences, Carl Orff Canada and MENC National in 2008. She has a video presentation available in the AOSA library.

Imiolo-SchriverDeborah A. Imiolo-Schriver was presented the 2004 Classroom Music Teacher of the Year Award from the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Erie County Council for Music Educators. She has presented at the AOSA Conference, the NYSSMA summer and winter conferences, and at workshops throughout the US.
