Culture is a powerful variable which plays a role not only in communicating and receiving information but also in shaping the thinking process of groups and individuals. Culture is at the heart of all we do in the name of education. (from "Teaching in the Margins")

"Being a CRT (culturally responsive teacher) is difficult but very rewarding. Getting past the first year of teaching is the hardest part. Once one gets to know the students, love them and appreciate them for what they can be, the “job” becomes a calling and the successes exhilarating."  Rose Grelis
