Important Hotel Information

TREAT YOURSELF!
You'll have a better conference experience in the conference hotel!

That's obvious. But there are other reasons that you need to consider before you look at another hotel.
Did you know?  read on…
  • Your conference planners take the role of finding a conference site very seriously. Location, attendees’ needs, meeting spaces, and quality service are all taken into consideration.
  • Conference hotels provide discounted rates for meeting room spaces, catering, and other services in exchange for a guaranteed number of attendees staying at the hotel and filling the room block. Conference planners depend upon the attendees to stay at the conference hotels to meet the contracted numbers. If the room block is not filled AOSA must pay for these rooms anyway.  Unfilled rooms can cost AOSA thousands of dollars.  This can affect not only the current conference but future negotiations.
  • Room rates are negotiated and are discounted from their normal room rate.

The bottom line is that staying at the conference hotel gives you a better conference experience AND helps keep registration rates low.
So...please do your part…find some roommates…support the conference…support AOSA
and stay at a conference hotel!

Parking Information

More info on ground transportation from the airport:
Neither hotel provides shuttle service to and from the airport. Here are some suggestions from Diane, who has tried them all.

The Super Shuttle can be arranged on line at http://www.supershuttle.com/Default.aspx A round trip fare costs about $40 plus tip. It does stop at other hotels so it may not be a direct route.

Taxis are available. The more people you have the better. One taxi with three people cost close to $18.00 but with six, it is much more affordable at $8.00. The cheapest was the X28 Airport Flyer. This is a public bus that you can get at the airport between exits 6 and 7. For $3.25 (exact change) you can ride downtown and get let off near the hotels. It does drop off and pick up passengers en route, but ordinarily takes about 35 minutes. It runs every 20 minutes on weekdays and every half hour on the weekend. At rush hour it may take longer. Get off at Liberty/Wood St. You will still have to walk around 3 blocks to each hotel. Daytime-not a problem; evening-travel in groups. Megabus
Consider this low cost transportation if you are coming from Akron, Buffalo, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Detroit, Erie, Frederick, Harrisburg, New York, Niagara Falls, Philadelphia, Toledo, Toronto, or Washington D.C. For those who have access to Megabus-it drops you off right at the Convention Center. Skip the parking fees and have fun with your friends on the way. Check with the bus Megabusdriver before breaking out into canons. NBT member Lissa Ray has tested this method of transportation. Don't count on the Wi-Fi but there are places to plug in chargers for your laptops and phones. A three block walk will get you to either conference hotel.
